Sacagawea River
Near Hays, Montana
The Sacagawea River flows through central Montana prairie country, named for the Lemhi Shoshone woman who guided Lewis and Clark. The river holds channel catfish, sauger, and smallmouth bass in its lower reaches. This is warmwater prairie fishing very different from Montana's famous trout streams. Access is limited through mostly private ranch land. Spring and early summer offer the best fishing before low flows set in.
