Map of East Fork Bitterroot River

The East Fork Bitterroot River originates in the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness and flows north to join the West Fork, forming the main Bitterroot River near Conner. The East Fork offers excellent fishing for westslope cutthroat and bull trout in its upper reaches, with brown and rainbow trout in lower sections. This is scenic mountain water with good public access. The river runs clearer than the West Fork during spring runoff. Summer and fall provide the best fishing as flows stabilize.
